We offer a Home Based Care Service, for children aged from birth to five years old, in Hastings, Havelock North, Napier & surrounding districts.
We have two Coordinators who are fully qualified registered ECE Teachers.
Donna Swannell is based in Napier and has been involved in Early Childhood Education since 1994. Her passion for the care and education for young children and their families grew as she became involved in Early Childhood Services, both as a parent and a teacher. This led to a role as a visiting teacher in a Home Based Service where she further developed her passion in believing that children develop and learn in unhurried environments, where they can unfold naturally and reach their full potential.
Rachael Grimwood is based in Havelock North and has been involved in Early Childhood Education since 1998 and has been working in our Havelock North Centre as a Head Teacher. Rachael is excited about her new role as one of our Coordinators for our Home Based Service. She sees it as a great way to be involved in the development of young children and their families. Rachael believes that as Educators it is important to support children in their journey to succeed as confident learners.

General Home environments provide learning opportunities and experiences. The daily occurrences and materials that are already part of the home environment (such as cooking, shopping, taking children to school, gardening) provide rich learning opportunities for children. A strength for home-based education is the opportunity for children to go out-and-about in the community. We encourage Educarers to utilise the equipment, opportunities and resources that are available in our local community.
Our Educarers have been chosen for their love of working with children. They are committed to providing care in a safe and nurturing home environment. Our Educarers are fully supported by Donna and are committed to the educational and learning programme for your child.
Our Philosophy We believe that each child is unique and will learn with Educarers in an environment that affirms and supports each child holistically. Each Educarers programme follows the strands and principles of Te Wharkiki, where each child’s learning is extended, shared and celebrated.
We recognise and share our unique New Zealand dual culture and heritage and we value our joint partnership with parents, whanau and the wider community.
