The Owners
Village Kids Childcare Centre opened in Havelock North on the 1st June, 1992. It is owned and Managed by Marilyn & Gerrit van Asch and Paul & Shane Rooney who both had pre school children at that time, and were passionate about providing the best early learning opportunities for their children.
Village Kids Childcare was the first licensed Childcare Centre in Havelock North and in 2000 Village Kids Childcare expanded into Napier so we could further provide high quality pre school education and socialisation for children in the Napier area.
2004 saw Village Kids Childcare replacing its Havelock North Centre with a new purpose built modern childcare and education facility, specialising in separate spacious Over 2 and Under 2 areas. In 2008 our Havelock North Centre became our Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers Centre and our Te Mata Road Centre, also in Havelock North, opened providing care for Infants from birth to 2 years old.
Both Paul & Marilyn are jointly managing both Havelock North and the Napier centres. Village Kids Childcare is committed to providing for families in the Hawkes Bay the best quality service that is available.
The Centres At Village Kids your children will experience a supportive and challenging environment where their individual needs are acknowledged and recognised. We have qualified and experienced teachers, excellent ratios and a holistic approach to our programme to ensure that your child gets the best care and education. Te Whaariki (New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum) is used as a base to develop programmes to meet the individual learning of each child. This ensures that development and growth can be assessed by teachers through observations.
Children are encouraged to develop independence as well as group skills, to build their self-esteem and social skills. Teachers and children work together to create an environment that is both challenging and fun where they can develop essential learning and concepts skills.
Families are warmly welcomed and their contribution is valued at the centre. We work in partnership with families to ensure the best outcome for every child. All children become part of a family when they attend Village Kids. Children are encouraged in decision making and start developing skills to deal with life, both now and in the future.
